As of Sunday afternoon, a petition sponsored by Bros4Hillary asking that Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party to seek recounts in Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina, has gained more than 16,000 signatures and growing.

Bros4Hillary, an advocacy organization at the forefront of #AuditTheVote, #Recount2016, and #FlipTheElectoralVotes,  formally reached out to Dr. Stein regarding the success of the petition. Dr. Stein has heard the call for additional recounts and responded.  Stein has stated that she will seek recounts in any states where deadlines have not passed.

Dr. Stein has raised $6.1M towards a goal of $7M for recounts in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Despite untoward comments Dr. Stein has made towards Hillary Clinton in recent days on Twitter, Bros4Hillary feels that she is uniquely positioned to seek recounts as she was a candidate in the 2016 presidential election and she is able to formally request recounts in some states where election laws have not automatically been triggered. Moreover, as a third party, she can seek recounts without the appearance of impartiality or running afoul of the principal of “peaceful transference of power.” Clinton herself initiating these proceedings would cause a massive hubbub.

Bros4Hillary understands that Florida does not allow candidates to seek recounts, but because of the aforementioned reasoning, believes Stein is uniquely positioned to make an impartial plea to the Republican Secretary of State, Ken Detzner, to initiate proceedings immediately. A petition started by the Palmer Report seeking this specifically has gained more than 30,000 signatures.

As of November 26, 2016, Clinton’s popular vote lead has grown to nearly 2.25 million.
