While controversial Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulous grabbed the majority of the headlines this weekend for his appearance on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, the majorly overlooked moment from the weekly broadcast involved United States counter-terrorism intelligence officer Malcolm Nance.

Nance used his personal experience to describe the level of sophistication and effort that was required to execute the Russian hacks of the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign in the 2016 presidential election. His perspective comes amidst growing questions about the extend of Donald Trump’s knowledge, and his timeline of learning about, the hacking attempts, which many now believe had an effect on the outcome of the election.
