In January of 2016, Los Angeles resident Nelson Melegrito created a Facebook group that he thought was a tongue-in-cheek clap-back to the “Bernie Bros” movement during the 2016 Democratic primary. He knew he supported Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid, and he knew there must be other men who did the same.
Soon he was bringing aboard a leadership team to help him run what was becoming a fledgling volunteer advocacy organization. What was a little Facebook group with a cheeky name and 50 members became, by the end of the election, a 33,000 subscriber force, officially linked to the campaign, and creating an impact. From there, the organization took off, and we brought aboard a team of designers and social media outreach members to help facilitate that growth.
While the group did a lot of things and had a lot of accomplishments, none of it would have been possible without Nelson. Please take a moment to join us in celebrating him today.
