Happening Now: Senate Democrats Hold The Floor For 2nd Consecutive Night [Video]

For the second consecutive evening, defiant Senate Democrats are holding the floor in Capitol Hill tonight to protest tomorrow’s Senate Confirmation Vote on Jeff Sessions, the Republican Senator from Alabama who is Donald Trump’s selection for Attorney General.
The move comes hours after the Senate, in a gridlocked vote of 50/50, had to call in Mike Pence to cast his tie-breaker vote in support of Betsy DeVos, the controversial pick for Secretary of Education. She was narrowly confirmed, making it the first time a Vice President was required to cast a tie-breaker vote in a confirmation hearing.
Sessions was previously rejected in confirmation hearings for a federal judgeship in 1987. More about Sessions and his controversial past with the NAACP can be found in our critical expose on Trump’s cabinet selections called Trump’s Cabinet of Deplorables: A Comprehensive Guide.
